- Email address: When you sign up for our waitlist, we collect your email address.
- Join date: We also record the date you joined the waitlist.
How we use your information
We use the collected information to:- Communicate with you, including sending updates and marketing information about the RunQuest app.
- Enhance our services and develop new features.
- Understand user interest in RunQuest over time.
App Information Collection and Use
Information we collect
- Login details: When you sign up to RunQuest, we collect your email address and password. A random, unique user ID is also generated at this point which is linked to your account. Although we securely store your password (in order to authenticate you), we cannot directly access your password or your account. If you forget your password, please contact us using the details at the end of this privacy policy.
- Location data: RunQuest collects precise location data, including in the background (detailed in Google's background location permissions article) to map your running routes and allocate virtual territory. This includes recording your latitude and longitude as you run and storing the data in a secure database. Background location tracking allows us to record your run, even when the app is closed or not in use. The virtual territory that you capture is saved onto the global map which is visible to all app users.
- Activity data: We gather data on your running activities, including distance, speed, and duration.
- Device information: We may collect information about your device, such as the model, operating system, and unique identifiers, is also collected.
- Customisation: We store (potentially personally identifiable) details when you customise parts of the app (including your display name, user colour, and avatar, all of which are visible by other users of the app with an active account). Providing a display name is completely optional. We only collect this information if you explicitly provide us with it. It is easily removable at any time. Removing your display name or choosing not to provide it in the first place can make you more anonymous to other players.
- Feedback: If you choose to provide feedback, we store details of the version of the app you were using, the date and time you submitted the feedback, your route and territory at the time you submitted the feedback, and the feedback text you provide. Providing feedback helps us improve your experience but is entirely optional and not integral to the functioning of the core features of the app. We store your feedback until we have acted on it or you have requested that it is deleted.
- Feature votes: If you choose to vote on polls in the 'Feature votes' section of the app, we store which polls you have voted on. The vote you cast is reasonably anonymised in its aggregation with other votes. Voting on these polls helps us improve your experience but is entirely optional and not integral to the functioning of the core features of the app.
- Join date: We record the date that you registered for an account on the app.
How we use your information

- Access and portability: You can request access to or a copy of your data for portability at any time, by emailing us at our email below.
- Opt-out: You can opt out of receiving marketing emails from us at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions included in such emails or by contacting us directly.
- Leaving the waitlist: You can leave the website waitlist at any time by following the steps on the home page. This will result in the immediate deletion of your information from our database.
- Correction and deletion: You can request the correction or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us.
- Consent withdrawal: You can withdraw consent for data collection through device settings or by contacting us.
